How did you know that I had been to Japan. That's right. I returned after receiving training in Japan on March 8. I went to a crane riding school in Japan for training to learn horse training techniques and dressage. This is already my third year, and I’ve been going every year since 2015.There, I am receiving professional training from Instructor Yoshitaka Serimachi. The purpose is to prepare for new changes.Since equestrianism is still in its early stages in Korea, youth equestrianism is the trend and mainstream,

Of course. The horse racing industry is a distinct sector, separate from gambling industries such as cycling or casinos.Horse racing and horses are part of the horse industry, and since the national infrastructure is in place, they are clearly distinguished from typical gambling industries. If the payout rates for horse racing are increased and the resumption of online betting, which had been blocked since 2009, leads to a revival of horse racing, it is clear that the horse industry will naturally be revitalized as well.I hope many horse racing fans will show interest.

Most people think of horse racing as gambling. However, quite a large number of people actually enjoy horse racing as a leisure activity in their daily lives. If the environment and culture of horse racing are improved so that it can be enjoyed as a leisure activity and the horse racing industry is revitalized, the equine industry will also thrive. I believe that revitalizing the horse industry can also provide great benefits to our society.First of all, I think it would be wonderful if the next government listens to the demands of horse racing fans and reflects them in legislation.

Currently, the payout rate for horse racing in our country is 73%, which is too low compared to the OECD average. In Japan, it would be 75.1%, and in Hong Kong, 78.1%. In countries like the United Kingdom and Australia, the figure is as high as 89%. Our country deducts too many taxes. On top of that, there are many horse racing taxes, including a 100% increase in entrance fees, more than 100 times double taxation, and refunds exceeding 2 million won. Therefore, the content is that horse racing taxes should be reduced. It also included a requirement to conduct online betting.

Horse racing is a sport that can be enjoyed fully as a leisure activity. The reason for organizing this event today is to improve the negative image of horse racing, which is perceived as gambling despite its ability to be enjoyed as a leisure activity. In addition,it is to create a forum for public discussion on tax issues unfavorable to horse racing fans and the reintroduction of online betting. Online betting tickets were discontinued in 2009, and I thought a public discussion process like this might be necessary to bring them back.

But I will keep helping along the way.In Jeju,a riding horse breeding and training center will soon be established on the Korea Racing Authority’s site and in Seogwipo. If these facilities are used well,Hallama could be established as a riding horse.Since they have a tendency to run, taming a racehorse into a riding horse is very risky. The number of Hallama running in Gyeongju keeps decreasing. They can be bred as riding horses and tamed as such from the start. When preparing the agreement,it was said that if Hanra-ma was trained as a riding horse for about six months,he would be able to ride as a basic level.

Although a mid to long term roadmap has been established, infrastructure is necessary for the implementation of entry-level criteria based on the process. Of course, it is not enough to just build the infrastructure and have a plan in place. The province, the Korea Racing Authority, and the association are all working hard in different areas.Since the number of customers participating in Thoroughbred horse racing is fixed, sales are stable; however, by encouraging customers who have not yet participated in Jeju horse racing to join, they expect sales to increase by acquiring a new customer base.

In the case of farms, the level of infrastructure is naturally low. An open circular arena without a roof reduces a horse's concentration. In a real circular pasture, the area should be completely enclosed to maintain high horse concentration during the initial acclimation stage, but most farms do not have a closed circular pasture like those of the Korea Racing Authority. In addition, most farm workers operate alone. Although there are 20 to 30 horses, I am often busy because I work alone. I can't invest much time. When training alone, you may not even know what is wrong.

test008

Graduates who have learned those processes and manuals at school carry out those processes professionally. For example, after graduating, trained students sign contracts with 15 farms and visit them regularly to train the horses according to their needs and the training process. The plan is for them to receive training expenses instead of being unable to join the racetrack or having to stay there long-term and pay management fees, so that the horses can be put to use. We are working closely with the school to carry it out.

First, there is the problem of aging farms. Aging farming households want to do this work, but they cannot. We are currently discussing another suitable policy with Jeju Halla University. While the professor would create the standard manual, it was impossible for him to do it alone, so students joined in to handle the practical work. We are planning to connect their graduation timing with job opportunities. In the case of aging farms, although the early acclimation training process is beneficial, they are unable to participate because they cannot carry it out themselves, leading to the animals being culled.

Jeju Halla University, which produced the breeding and training manual, meets with representatives from the pilot farms once a month to share achievements and address any difficulties, refining the manual. After some time, the words you created according to the manual start to come out.Data will be tracked to compare horses that have undergone training at demonstration farms with those of different ages. They will track and fear how much earlier the race entry becomes and what the results will be.Knowing that other farms are benefiting from it,we hope it will be distributed quickly.

test008

Rather than limiting themselves to the racetrack or merely promoting the program, they are visiting farms in the eastern and western regions to demonstrate it firsthand. This shows them in actual training. As a result, many surrounding farms joined in.One may question the effectiveness of the standard manual. Therefore, pilot farms were designated.Among the producers, we selected four farms that had the facilities and the motivation.Yes, we selected 24 horses and are training them according to the manual.

From 2018 to 2023, only vehicles that pass the driving inspection will be accepted. I drew the roadmap in this way. After receiving approval,we were alarmed and held briefing sessions for therapists, trainers, trainees, and owners last year.We created a standard manual last year. There is a method for every aspect of raising and training. It was produced by capturing the actual training process on CD.The problem is,after having all the materials ready, saying,I made this.Although they said,Please attend, many farmers did not show up,and there were things they did not know.

test008

Gradually,at first, have some of the horses that have completed the start test enter. The next step is to allow only horses that have passed the 100% departure inspection to enter. The next step is that only some horses that pass the running inspection enter, and then only those that pass 100% are admitted. They prepared a system where if someone passed on the day of hiring, they would join Gyeongju-ma; if they failed, they would be sent back home. The trained and conditioned horses are those that have passed the minimum driving inspection.

test008

Second,we created a mid to long-term roadmap to ensure that the effort does not end with simply producing and distributing manuals. Just as study patterns are shaped by the college entrance system,it is important to set the conditions and direction for entering the company as a racehorse.Although it cannot be implemented immediately, as it will take at least five years to develop the training curriculum, we will begin by signaling how the requirements for entering the racehorse industry will proceed step by step in the future and what preparations producers and owners need to make.

Last year, we reviewed good research materials on how to handle production and the development of sullabiesheds,as well as how to manage their early and late stages. There is plenty of information about thoroughbreds, both abroad and in Korea, but not a single one about the Jeju horse. The standards related to Thoroughbred could not be applied to Jeju horses. So last year, we created standard manuals for production, breeding, training, and feeding management tailored to Jeju horses.

Unlike thoroughbred horses, whose production, training, and development are systematized, these horses are being entered into racing at an unspecified age. Because they enter without proper training, their expertise is lacking, and many accidents occur. The horses are also running worse. His abilities are good, but there are also significant disparities.Overall, the quality of the race is lacking.Jeju horse racing is broadcast in Seoul and Busan, but there were complaints from customers saying,I can't watch it,and What kind of horse racing is this

Since 2014,Deputy Director Kim Jin gap has been in charge of managing Jeju’s racing resources at LetsRun Park Jeju, and over the course of that long period, he has continued tireless efforts as a dedicated practitioner, developing relevant policies and manuals, persuading farms, and leading training. On May 7,we met with Kim Jin-gap, head of race resource management at LetsRun Park Jeju, on site to hear about the progress, including the systematic breeding process of race Jeju horses. In the case of Thoroughbreds,

Jeon Seong won, current Head of the Win Win Marketing Division and former Head of the Jeju Regional Headquarters at the time the agreement for the mutual development of the horse industry was passed, and Kim Jin gap,Head of Jeju’s Racing Resources Management Division, have continued to engage with farmers with a sense of responsibility on this important issue, tirelessly developing and implementing related policies in the field. At a special zone meeting held in Jeju last June,Jeon Seong won, head of the Win-Win Marketing Headquarters,

While horseback riding, I began to connect directly with horses. As I touched and rode the horses, I found myself unexpectedly captivated by their charm. I have always read books and watched videos about horses, and I dreamed of raising one while exploring various educational programs. After graduating from university, I happened to get a contract position at Jeju Breeding Farm. While working, I saw and learned a great deal about language and acquired knowledge. After the contract ended, I began seriously raising the horse.

I had dreamed of a life of running and playing with horses, living at ease. However, the reality is that there is much to do beyond horse management, including pasture and facility maintenance and government support, which makes it challenging. At present, I am receiving help from my father and others with extensive experience in the field of horses. One advantage is that, being young, I can work with great passion. I can work for my own words without overthinking things. I still have a lot to learn, so I am trying to gain as many diverse experiences as possible.

Furthermore, as a member of the equestrian community, I pay my respects to the management of Daemyung Group for fulfilling this role selflessly.Horseback riding is now politicized because of a series of events. In a way, the equestrians who have worked quietly until now may be victims of the Choi Soon-sil scandal. I hope Daemyung Group's 'Mayon Eohos' will be a competition that all equestrians and the public can participate in and enjoy. I also ask for your support and encouragement regarding these matters, whether from the government or the sports council.

Contrary to expectations that this year’s audit would be somewhat routine, the National Assembly was energized by summoning former head of the Ombudsman, the chairman of the National Horse Trainers’ Union, the president of the Busan Jockey Association, and the mayor of Seocho District as witnesses, with the session lasting over eight hours. In contrast, the responses from Korea Racing Authority employees failed to demonstrate confidence, leaving much to be desired. In particular, since the National Assembly audit began being broadcast live online this year, many citizens have watched it, and the conduct of the majority of Korea Racing Authority employees has been criticized as falling short of the high standards expected, as the industry prides itself on being the nation’s leading leisure sport.

Therefore, I believe we need to transform the current stranded projects into a virtuous cycle that encompasses the entire market, including the sales market. In particular, the construction of a large dedicated equestrian stadium is considered the most important. There must be an equestrian stadium where long-term competitions can be held, and through those events, the production and sale of domestic horses, feed, tack, and everything else can be promoted and revitalized. I believe that is the only way for the business to be unified.

In response, Daemyung has added the auction section. We conducted it differently from previous auctions. However, fundamental measures are necessary for the development of the horse industry. Over the past five years, we have launched a horse industry project as a government initiative. As far as I know, it all began between 2011 and 2012; while the first five years were focused on building 500 equestrian venues and training specialized personnel as part of the initial project, the five-year plan for the future development of equestrianism seems to be currently stalled.
