Just as business leaders contributed to the growth of golf, they must take the lead in revitalizing the culture of equestrian consumption. It is regrettable that the horse industry shows no interest in the fact that the participants of the equestrian culture CEO program are composed of such opinion leaders. It would be great if they could encourage and support one another for the advancement of the horse industry. Even the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries seems completely uninterested, repeatedly stating in external reports and plans that programs are needed and development

As mentioned earlier, don’t speak negatively of other riding centers; instead, find your own unique characteristics and give them a distinct identity. In the mobile era, simply saying we are the best riding center to consumers who choose everything in the palm of their hand is not enough. What matters more is how much service is provided with the consumer in mind. Since you can't do everything, you need to find something specialized. It is fine to utilize the natural environment of one's own region, or to incorporate tourism and cultural elements such as locally produced agricultural products.

Regarding the Daejeon branch, the Daejeon Participatory Autonomy Citizens’ Coalition held a press conference on the 8th in front of the Korea Racing Authority’s Daejeon branch in Wolpyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, calling for the withdrawal of the expansion plan for the Wolpyeong-dong off-track betting center and urging the withdrawal of the Daejeon branch expansion plan and relocation to the outskirts. In their statement, they argued that since the Daejeon branch was established, citizens have been exposed to the risk of gambling addiction and are suffering serious infringements on their living environment, such as traffic congestion caused by illegal parking on weekends and the deterioration of educational and residential environments due to the concentration of entertainment facilities. They demanded the relocation to the outskirts or closure, but accused the Korea Racing Authority of instead trying to expand it.

Whether it’s hiring former athletes as instructors, prioritizing horses, or focusing on facilities and atmosphere, it is not consumer-centered. Other leisure sports, including golf, are already breaking away from those past images. Facilities are being developed with the customer in mind, and events, programs, and communication services are being implemented, but the equestrian industry remains stuck in the past.Professor Kim emphasized that entrepreneurs must take the lead in revitalizing the equestrian consumer culture. Just as entrepreneurs contributed to the growth of golf,

In the past, golf instructors would pressure their clients by boasting that they were former players while teaching. However,as golf became more popular and widespread, the market grew and competition intensified. In addition,as consumers’understanding of golf has improved, the industry has shifted from focusing on brands to a more customer-centric approach. The equestrian industry could do better by paying a little more attention and following suit, but they are not making such efforts. These are also the reasons I began studying the major of 'Horse Industry Management at the Graduate School of Industry.

For the equestrian industry to grow and develop, local riding centers must have their own grading system. And they must provide services and marketing that match that level. Relevant organizations should establish standards for industry standardization, and educational institutions such as schools should ensure that standardized services are provided to consumers through the development of active educational programs. Only then can the overall image of the horse industry improve and continue to develop.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs expects that if Jeju Special Self-Governing Province faithfully implements the detailed action plans under the Horse Industry Promotion and Development Plan, it will play a leading role in fostering Korea’s horse industry and will also make a significant contribution to stabilizing horse supply and demand.Minister Lee Dong-pil said, “At a time when FTAs are expanding, the horse industry can create new sources of income for agriculture and rural areas, promote exchanges between urban and rural communities, and develop into advanced-country-style industries such as tourism, leisure (equestrian) industry, and healing industry.” He added, “The designation of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Horse Industry Special Zone carries great significance in that it will establish the foundational infrastructure for the future development of the horse industry.”

However, despite this reality, civic groups that have ridden on social prejudice against off-track betting facilities and regional selfishness are absorbed in opposition for the sake of opposition, and it is regrettable that the reality of labeling the horse racing industry—which contributes a significant portion to the national budget by paying tax revenue amounting to 1.4 trillion won annually—as gambling is nothing short of unfortunate. The horse industry and horse racing industry say that instead of opposing only for the sake of opposition, they should seek development into a healthy leisure activity and openly discuss with each other to set the best course for one another.
